Enphase IQ9N Microinverter 427 VA – more power for modern high-current solar modules
General information: The Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT is a single-phase microinverter from the new IQ9 generation with a maximum apparent power of 427 VA and a rated power of 427 W. It is designed for the latest generation of high-performance PV modules and features an MPP tracker, integrated Stäubli MC4 connectors and a 230 V grid connection. A status LED on the housing indicates the operating state.
Function: The Enphase IQ9N microinverter converts the direct current of the connected module into grid-compliant alternating current directly on the roof. The MPP tracker operates in a range of 28 to 45 V and handles a DC input current of up to 16 A. The start-up input voltage is 21 V. As each module is controlled individually, shading, soiling or different orientations do not affect the other modules. The patented Burst Mode technology additionally supports energy production in low irradiance.
Application: The Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT 1-ph | 427 VA Micro-Inverter MC4 is suitable for grid-connected PV systems with all common module power classes and cell architectures. No fixed DC/AC ratio is prescribed, as long as the maximum input voltage and current are observed at the lowest and highest temperatures. The IQ9N can also extend existing IQ7 and IQ8 systems on the same IQ Gateway. The AC connection is made via Enphase IQ Cabling, while communication and monitoring take place via the IQ Gateway and the Enphase App. Depending on grid connection requirements, an IQ Relay is also required; alternatively, the pre-wired IQ Combiner is available.
Material: The housing of the Enphase IQ9N-A-INT is made of a double-insulated, corrosion-resistant polymer of protection class II and is IP67-rated for outdoor use. Heat is dissipated without fans by natural convection, and the noise level is below 25 dBA. Measuring 214 x 176 x 30.8 mm and weighing 1.1 kg including mounting plate, the unit can be mounted in a space-saving manner beneath the module.
Technology: The technical features of the Enphase IQ9N-A-INT include a maximum DC input power of 600 W, an input voltage of 18 to 60 V and a rated input voltage of 36.5 V. The maximum input short-circuit current is 25 A; connected modules may have an Isc of up to 20 A. The maximum output current is 1.86 A at 230 V and 50 Hz. The maximum efficiency reaches 97.95 % and the European efficiency 97.44 %. Communication takes place via power line (110 - 120 kHz), and the operating range extends from -40 to +65 °C.
Conclusion: The Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT 1-ph | 427 VA Micro-Inverter MC4 combines 427 VA output power, a DC input current of up to 16 A and a European efficiency of 97.44 % in a fanless IP67 housing. Thanks to its compatibility with existing IQ7 and IQ8 systems, it is suitable both for new installations and for extending existing Enphase systems.

FAQ
Which solar modules are compatible with the Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT 1-ph | 427 VA Micro-Inverter MC4?
- The IQ9N supports all common module power classes and cell architectures. The module voltage must not exceed 60 V even at the lowest temperature, and the module Isc must not exceed 20 A. Modules above 600 W are possible but may cause clipping losses.
How many Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT 1-ph | 427 VA Micro-Inverter MC4 units can be connected to one circuit?
- Up to 8 units single-phase and up to 24 units three-phase are permitted on a circuit protected at 20 A. A maximum of 7 (L+N) or 15 (3L+N) units applies per IQ Cabling run. In case of high grid voltage, a reduction of up to 50 % may be necessary.
How does the Enphase Microinverter IQ9N-A-INT 1-ph | 427 VA Micro-Inverter MC4 behave in hot conditions?
- The unit is designed for ambient temperatures from -40 to +65 °C. According to the datasheet, it delivers full power up to a device temperature of approx. 95 °C; above this, output is reduced. Mounting beneath the module with sufficient air circulation is therefore recommended.
