Twin Ferrules 0.5...16mm² Insulated – Double Wire End Ferrules for Two Conductors in One Terminal
General Information: Twin ferrules (also called double wire end ferrules) are insulated ferrules for connecting two stranded conductors together. They are selected by conductor cross-section: six variants are available, with 0.5mm², 1mm², 2.5mm², 4mm², 10mm² and 16mm² per conductor.
Function: Both conductors are crimped together in one ferrule in a single operation. The insulating collar guides the conductors during insertion, provides mechanical protection and colour-codes the cross-section.
Applications: Twin ferrules are used wherever two conductors are led into one terminal point – in double-connection terminal blocks, in control cabinet and distribution board construction and in machine wiring. The small cross-sections 0.5...2.5mm² suit control and signal circuits, the large cross-sections 4...16mm² suit power distribution and connections with higher current flow.
Material: The ferrule is made of Cu-DHP copper with a tinned surface (minimum coating thickness 3µm); the insulating collar is made of polypropylene and withstands up to 105°C.
Technical Details: The ferrule length grows with the cross-section – from 8mm at 1mm² to 16mm at 16mm². AWG values range from 2x20 (0.5mm²) to 2x6 (16mm²). Since colours repeat (red at 1mm² and 10mm², blue at 2.5mm² and 16mm²), always select the variant by cross-section and not by the colour of the insulating collar alone.
Conclusion: Six cross-sections, one design: twin ferrules enable clean double connections in a single crimping operation – from control circuits to power distribution.

FAQ
How do I choose the right twin ferrule?
- What matters is the cross-section of a single conductor: for two conductors of 2.5mm² each, choose the 2.5mm² variant. The collar colour is only a guide and is not unique, as red (1mm² and 10mm²) and blue (2.5mm² and 16mm²) each occur twice.
Which conductors are twin ferrules intended for?
- For two stranded conductors connected in one shared terminal point – both with the nominal cross-section of the selected variant, for example in terminal blocks with double connection.
What temperatures can the insulating collar withstand?
- The polypropylene insulating collar is temperature-resistant up to 105°C – for all six cross-sections.
