1G SFP RJ45 Transceiver Module – 10/100/1000Base-T up to 100 m
General information: The 1G SFP transceiver module adds an RJ45 port for 10/100/1000Base-T to compatible network devices. The compact copper SFP module is inserted into a free SFP uplink port and enables a Gigabit Ethernet connection over a conventional copper network cable.
Function: The SFP RJ45 transceiver converts the host device's 1000BASE-X interface into an electrical 10/100/1000Base-T connection. This allows switches, media converters and other compatible network devices to be connected to existing copper cabling via RJ45.
Application: The SFP module is suitable for network cabinets, server rooms, office installations and industrial network applications where a free SFP slot is to be used as an additional RJ45 port. The maximum transmission distance is up to 100 m over a suitable Cat 5 network cable.
Installation: Plug-and-play and hot-plug support allow the module to be installed or replaced in compatible devices without restarting the device. Auto MDI/MDI-X automatically detects the Ethernet pin assignment, so a dedicated crossover cable is not required.
Design: The fully metal enclosure supports low electromagnetic interference and protects the integrated electronics. The compact RJ45 interface enables direct connection of a standard network cable.
Technology: The module supports bidirectional data links up to 1.25 Gbps and 10/100/1000Base-T operation on the RJ45 side. Typical power consumption is 0.56 W and maximum power consumption is 1.04 W. The module operates from a 3.3 V DC supply.
Compatibility: The transceiver is MSA compliant and, according to the manufacturer, compatible with network devices from numerous brands. Actual support may depend on the device model, firmware and SFP port configuration.
Conclusion: The 1G SFP transceiver module with RJ45 is a practical solution for converting a compatible SFP port into a 10/100/1000Base-T connection. Hot-plug support, Auto MDI/MDI-X, the robust metal enclosure and a range of up to 100 m allow flexible use in existing Gigabit networks.

FAQ
What is a copper SFP module?
- A copper SFP module converts a compatible SFP port into an electrical RJ45 network connection, allowing a conventional copper network cable to be used with the SFP port.
Which speeds does the SFP RJ45 module support?
- The RJ45 interface supports 10/100/1000Base-T. The module's internal bidirectional data link is designed for up to 1.25 Gbps.
What is the maximum transmission distance?
- With a suitable Cat 5 network cable, the maximum transmission distance is up to 100 m.
Can the module be used in an SFP+ slot?
- Only when the network device supports 1G SFP modules and copper transceivers in its SFP+ slot. Please check the specifications provided by the device manufacturer.
Does the network device need to be switched off during installation?
- The module is hot-pluggable. In a compatible device, it can be installed or removed during operation without restarting the entire network device.
What does Auto MDI/MDI-X mean?
- Auto MDI/MDI-X automatically detects the Ethernet pin assignment, so a dedicated crossover cable is normally not required.
Is the SFP module compatible with every switch?
- No. Compatibility depends on the switch model, firmware, port configuration and support for copper SFP modules.
