Each tuner has an automatic input control (AGC), with this the input voltage is levelled to an ideal value. The AGC only works within certain limits; if the maximum limit is exceeded, the tuner is overdriven, resulting in distortion and a loss of quality in picture and sound.
In the area of single-cable solutions, after multi-switches, amplifiers and in large systems, too high voltages/signals often occur and overdrive these devices. This error often becomes noticeable with HD programmes such as the Sat1/Pro7 transponder and with various built-in satellite tuners of flat screens.
In contrast to adjustable attenuators which usually do not have constant transmittance values in terms of quality and thus produce additional fluctuations, with an attenuator from the DUR-line series you get the highest quality linear constant values over the entire frequency range.
